Here is a little tidbit of info every skateboarder should know. Setting up your own board is a pretty satisfying accomplishment. It isn't hard to do, yo just need the right tools. and the sharpest razor you can find. Take the time to do it right because a skateboard that has airbubbles sucks. or griptape edges that are jagged or peeling away.

There's a mellow 5 sided pyramid with a up flat down hubba and a flat bar on top. The rest of the concrete section is mostly quarter pipes with a sort of bowled almost horse shoe thing. Then a pretty crappy 1" high 25' long manny pad and an ok flat bar up in the kiddie section	Pickles

Top section with rails, ledges, hips, banks, etc. Lower level features a pretty fun bowl w/ a 5ft shallow end & a 8-9ft deep section. Watch out for the quick waterfall into the deep end of the bowl... IT WILL TAKE YOU OUT!	Clayface!

Video Review: DC Smith & Pure

Dave Begonis and Kevin Leslie were both given the chance recently to try out some DC Shoes. Above is some footage they got while testing out the shoes and some of their thoughts on how the shoes skated and how well they held up. Both Kevin and Dave have been skating a lot of vulcanized shoes lately. The Smith 2.0 and Pure Slim feature a TPR wrap cup sole construction which is a cup sole with a side wrap with the look and flick feel of a vulcanized sole. They agreed the shoes were a little stiff out of the box but broke in quickly. Once broken in they found the shoes still grippy and slightly more supportive than a traditional Vulcanized shoe. Dave got in a lot of skating and put the "Super Suede" to the test. The shoes held up well and after 10 or 11 solid days of skating the DC "pill grip" tread pattern wasn't even starting to wear down and some of the stitching on the toe was just starting wear through. Overall they seemed to think they were solid clean looking shoes that held up well. We have the same Pure Slims that Dave tried out in stock at the store as well as the Pure and Pure XE in a couple color options.

The folks over at Element Skateboards have taken the idea of being environmentally conscious to the next level. Element has recently introduced their Power to the Planet line, focusing on producing clothing, shoes, and skateboards out of renewable resources. Their boards feature a 6-layer cross-grain maple construction with a top ply fabricated out of vertically-laminated bamboo, one of the world's most precious renewable resources. Element has dubbed this campaign Conscious By Nature.

Element has also stepped up their end on being fully committed to skateboarders by offering a variety of different shapes and constructions, labeled every time so that you know what you're getting when you purchase an Element product.

Offering a variety of Constructions, Element is truly committed to giving you exactly what you are looking for in your skateboard.

Element has recently introduced their FLATLIGHT construction. FLATLIGHT is a "premium" 7-ply construction pressed in a softer concave mold with lowered nose and tail angles and more flat behind the trucks giving the rider quicker responding pop. FLATLIGHT is made with fewer died veneers in efforts to lighten the board's environmental footprint.

The PUSH Construction. The PUSH construction combines the responsiveness and power of carbon fiber with the durability and lightweightedness of the Featherlight Helium construction. Element describes the PUSH lamination as the best choice for high impact skateboarding.

The FEATHERLIGHT HELIUM Construction. FEATHERLIGHT HELIUM boards feature five air frame chambers that run the length of the board and are evenly spaced through the center two veneers. These chambers eliminate a lot of wood through the core, making this the lightest board that Element offers. Element states that their FEATHERLIGHT decks offer the most pop and best flick.

The FIBERLIGHT construction. FIBERLIGHT boards take the FEATHERLIGHT construction and make the veneers even thinner. In order to add strength to the board, we inlay a fiberglass beam through the board in the venter ply. The fiberglass beam transfers energy throughout the board during harsh landings. FIBERLIGHT boards are our thinnest boards and offer the most flex. These boards are great for technical skateboarding and larger ollies.

Element's FEATHERLIGHT Construction is an original "premium" construction and has over a decade of proven reliability. FEATHERLIGHT boards are made with thinner veneers and a pressed concave that adds strength to the thinner materials. These boards are a perfect choice for a solid all-around everyday board from all terrain.

Element' THRIFTWOOD boards feature a traditional approach to board construction. A standard 7-ply skateboard with mostly natural veneers. These boards feature classic Element style graphics on a good solid skateboard. These boards are a great value and are a bit thicker and stiffer than FEATHERLIGHT boards.

Element's TWIGS construction are pressed in a mold that has a been scaled down from the FEATHERLIGHT mold. It makes our FEATHERLIGHT construction even thinner resulting in the thinnest and lightest board available. The TWIGS construction supports constant growth in the world on skateboarding.

Element has created a number of Shape Codes that make it really simple for you to find the board shape that you like, and be able to ride that same shape every time you choose an element board. Each shape is defined and can be identified by a number. These 23 different different shape codes show nose length,tail length, wheelbase, overall length and width for each board, allowing you to choose exactly what you want, every time

This Video from Dwindle shows the complete process in building a Dwindle skateboard starting from harvesting the right tree, to pressing and drilling each individual boards. It is here via youtube, but if you want the real hi-res version goto dwindle.com. Dwindle is creating some of the best and forward skateboards, We can only hope this video makes other woodshops step up their game.

CONCLUSION: Dwindle makes each board exactly to spec, therefore if you skate a 7.7 Haslam, every single one of them will be the same as the last.

Bones Wheels Drag Test

In this Test Lab we had some help from Bones Wheels, they devised a super high tech way to test the percentage of material lost when draging wheels....more commonly known as flatspotting. They wouldn't release the secret machine used to flatspot these wheels but I'm guessing it involves a skateboard, some rocks, a lot of pavement, and a rope. What I am sure of is that they used the same methods for ALL wheels tested.

Most wheel companies have at least two different performance levels for wheels a regular and a high tech level that is longer lasting, grippier, or faster. So much more info on wheel construction soon. It would take up too much room to explain here.

The reason bones tested Best: "All BONES WHEELS (6) unique formulas are solely developed and produced in our own manufacturing plant located in Santa Barbara, CA. Using drastically different physical and engineering properties for each formula, BONES creates unique urethanes for specific applications of skateboarding." More at bones.com

CONCLUSION: Tests show that Bones Wheels were the most resistant against flatspotting against all other brands tested. The % of material lost was significantly less than all competetors. All Wheels Tested are available at Eastern Boarder stores. SK8NERD:1111.20008

Testing: Real Bomber Decks

In this Test Lab We set the lab Rats ot to test some of the new Real decks, All the decks skated have the new R1 rebound construction, and the new Real Bomber construction.

The R1 is a new construction from Real it add 2x bands for smooth and constant concave, it is layed in cross band construction, so it add to the stiffness and life of each deck. The Real Bomber Series has R1 and is beefed up with thicker plys of wood, there is still 7 but each ply is thicker than normal, adding much needed stregnth. For the heavy footed skaters. Colin skates a Bomber in this video, see how it holds up.

CONCLUSION: The Lab Rats seem pretty satisfied they skated each board into the ground. Stay Tuned For more videos, testing and specs. SK8NERD:1028.20008

Testing: Tensor Magnesium Trucks

Eastern Boarder Lab Rats Test out the "Lighter Than Light" Tensor Magnesium Trucks. Eric cracks the box and sets up a set, then heads off to Nashua Park for a little testing session. Keith Powers takes a few laps of destruction, making sure to grind everything in his path, crete, coping, and the deathbox. George tests out the thch side of thing in montreal. At the end they give a recap of the results. Are they worth it? Watch and find out.

CONCLUSION: The Lab Rats Agreed that the Tensor Magnesium Trucks are Lighter then Light but weren't sold on the turning ability. SK8NERD:1028.20008
